You have to be cool and noble—I mean not noble by rank, but noble in quality: elevated, worthy, with an optimized mind temperature.
Imagine someone sitting there, calm and confident, thinking about the essence of things and about what is real. Then he notices: “This track is nonsense. Let’s switch to the next one.”
That is the real trick: switching tracks of thought.
You switch them when they become stuck, dull, or useless. And while switching, there is sometimes a brief state of emptiness—as if you were changing channels on a television. One track has ended, but the next one has not yet begun.
Do not be afraid of that emptiness. It is part of the process. Keep switching. Keep searching for the better track.
Listen only to tracks that have proved themselves good, useful, interesting, and capable of bringing perspective.
But you also have to know how to find them. Build an algorithm: search, find, test, and discard.
Throwing things out is part of the process.
Do not become too attached to any single track. Listen to different ones: worthy tracks, respected ones, carried by respected flows. Not nonsense. Not imitation. Not fake material.
Do not judge music or tracks of thought only by their literal words. The main thing is the flow, the essence, and the wholeness—the total meaning that reaches you. Not merely what was said, but what was understood.
Do not listen to disgusting pop trash, the kind that circulates through the crowd. The crowd is full of fools, and they are being fooled. Do not fool yourself.
Build a cultivated flow of thought. Wind it up. Become aware of the context and of what is needed today.
Switch the tracks. Search for the better one.
